Ship Village

The " Ship Island " is located west of Oludeniz Beach, about 7 km from the beach. It contains the remains of houses, warehouses and churches from the Byzantine and Roman eras, dating back to the thirteenth century.
There are more than 30 ancient tombs on the island of ships, in addition to a monastery carved into the rock directly on the top of the island. There are also many antiquities in the middle of nature on the island.
Archaeologists believe that the island is the original tomb of a Greek bishop who became famous as one of the great Christian saints. His name was Saint Nicholas, and he was the “patron saint of sailors” in Christian belief. Sailors used to visit the island frequently to seek his intercession, so the “ Island of Ships ” became of historical value and a natural reserve in the middle of the sea.
